Abanamat is a Berlin-based heavy psychedelic band whose crazy stylistic mixtures, formed by the vast influences, is united by the their massive sound.
Following the Night Walk, Amdest is the second piece from the premiere Abanamat album I created a music video for.
Amdest relates to stories of people in custody in Russian police stations. Hearing the stories it inspired me to look into Adam Mickiewicz's Forefathers' Eve III – a mystical and political drama in which the incarcerated poet-prophet Konrad rebels against his oppressors and God himself, transforming personal suffering and national martyrdom into a vision of spiritual resurrection and freedom.
Symbolic visions in the video loosely follow the ones described by Konrad, resulting in dreamlike scenes of nature, people, extasy, Good and Evil.
Apart from the snake and cell window, all the objects in the video are 3D scans of real environments from different parts of Europe (Sicily, southern France, Berlin, northern Poland) put together in a collage-like scenery.
